Checking out the view

The big question is did we angle the house correctly to get the mountain views? The sub-floor is on for the upper level so now we can take a better look! The windows for the front guest bedroom are framed, and those views look pretty good. The rest of the framing for the second level should go up this week. Trusses should arrive the following week.

The angled wall will have the tall windows for the mountain view...just need to place to sofa to take advantage of it all (okay maybe after the roof is on so it's a little more comfortable)!

Andy's busy adding the missing nails...

Not too bad of a view for our guest room.

The pile of rocks that we raked out of the front yard and need to be hauled off when they do final grading. You can see the stake next to the house where the gas meter will go. Notice the extra tree protection for this next round of back-hoe activity!

Our backyard landscape project awaits...

The guest bedroom and office side.

The master suite side.

You can see the faint lines on the flooring where Marvin marked out the walls.

Looks like eyes in the crawlspace.

Will the garage be large enough for all of the toys?

The spot where the fireplace will be.

The stairwell...still missing the stairs. Guess it's nice that you can just walk around the side of the house to get to the second level.

Monsoons are back

Looks like this will be a wet week and thus a slow week for construction. Here are some images from over the weekend showing the framing progress last week.

The unfinished space on the north side of the house.

The nicely raked front yard (to the right of the driveway). We spent some more time this weekend raking out the rocks and removing the dirt to get back to natural grade sloping away from the house.

We also did some raking in the back to remove the rocks. We need to work on back filling to have positive drainage away from the house.

This is where the stairwell will be coming up from the game room into the great room upstairs.

The crawlspace in the back of the house is all covered up!

Almost done with the floor joists and floor sheathing. Just a few joists to fix over the fireplace area early in the week when the joists arrive.

This is what monsoon season looks like! Although it seems to be especially rainy this week... We'll see if the sun comes out enough to dry this all out! Otherwise it's another week of waiting.
It's pretty easy to tell where the grading isn't level!

Mostly dry in the unfinished space.

Mostly wet everywhere else!

It's easy to tell where the garage floor slopes! (There is a drain in the bottom of the mud puddle, but it's still taped over)

Framing the First Floor

Lumber was delivered on Monday and Marvin started framing on Tuesday. Here are the 3 days of progress so far this week. The framing is going up quickly..too quickly to make sure everything is done correctly!
