We had our first freeze and some snow on the peaks. We love our view from the great room windows...this is it! Well we cheated and drove over to one of the nearby empty lots (that we actually considered building on) because our cute little Ponderosa blocks part of the view. And Andy said the glass from the windows gets in the way...open air viewing would be a bit chilly now!
We have purchased some new furniture like the leather sofa to create a nice spot to check out the view. It was quite entertaining to watch the two men carry in the sofa (it's all one piece!). We finally have a picture hung and can use the lamp on our picture wall! Our friend Joe gave us this really neat photo of Sedona printed on metal. And notice, the real front door is finally installed! With three stained glass panels all intact. We have two old Navajo rugs for decoration that were aging in my parents attic. The big ones helps to break up the tall wall above the kitchen. Perfect for Arizona!
A nice new queen sized bed and duvet cover to decorate the master bedroom. Nice wooden furniture (bed, chest of drawers, dresser, night stands) are on the project list once the shop is finished!
The plants love the light!
The office/Andy's listening room is full. A new little computer desk and some of Andy's stereo furniture fill it up nicely. The old sofa works for listening seating for now.
We decorated the jack and jill bathroom with all of the sea shells and sponges and things that we have collected over the years! A little oasis in Arizona.
The guestroom is ready for visitors. My Grandmother's quilt decorates the room nicely.
I wanted to add some color to the powder room. Instead of painting the wall a bright color (we couldn't agree on one), we made a photo arrangement of various flowers that we (and friends) have taken.
The backyard has been an ongoing project for the summer. We had a fence installed for the future dog (or horse as the neighbor thinks we are getting). It's supposed to rust like the house and be less shiny. And then we planted some grass seed (native grasses that aren't supposed to need much water) in the fenced area so that it's not all muddy. The grass sprouted but never really did much. Now I think it's too cold. Hopefully there are some roots though and it'll come back stronger in the spring!
With plenty of help from family and friends who have visited, we managed to clean up the backyard nicely and even plant some colorful flowers to enjoy!
The vegetable garden was a semi-successful attempt this year. The squirrels (or somebody) enjoyed the cherry tomatoes, but with the fence we did manage to get a fair number for ourselves. The beans never produced enough at a time to make cooking worthwhile. The snap peas died and the lettuce never came up. Perhaps sticking with flowers is a better idea... Or forgetting the garden and putting a hot tub there instead!
The aspens and the maple are full of fall color. We love the low maintenance gravel in the front yard. Hopefully the leaves will just all blow away...
