Here are some photos from a busy day! The trusses were trucked up the hill from Phoenix safely. They were dropped in the street (see the video on the previous post to check it out). The massive crane picked up the trusses (one or two at a time) and placed them on top of the house. The framers moved quickly to secure everything in the right spots. The crane was only there for a few hours in the morning, but the framers were still hard at work at 5 pm today to get everything attached.
They had to move some of the trusses that were on the top of the pile to get to the ones that they wanted to put up first.
The framers wanted the stacks of OSB for the roof placed inside of the house. A pretty quick job for the crane to move the stacks from the delivery truck up to the great room.
The first trusses were put up over the back wall above the stairs.
We unfortunately didn't get to watch the rest of the trusses go up (meetings at work were more important!). The crane was gone by the afternoon and all of the trusses were out of the street. The big gap in the middle of the house isn't all skylight...there are some trusses that have to be hung after they work out the details for the shed dormer and kitchen skylight.
Hi Andrea & Andrew,
ReplyDeleteNow your little neighbor will be happier since you are getting a roof! That video is impressive when they unload the trusses. Glad all went well.
